The construction side, explained.

I’m David D. Cote, the creator of Home Build Unpacked.

As a construction manager, I’ve worked with the people, decisions, and day-to-day problems that shape residential projects. That includes coordinating trades, reviewing work in the field, solving problems, and communicating with homeowners throughout the building process.

Why I created Home Build Unpacked

Homeowners often have to make decisions before they fully understand the process behind them. Unfamiliar terms, changing schedules, and unclear expectations can make it hard to know what deserves attention.

I created Home Build Unpacked to make those conversations easier to follow. The goal is straightforward: explain residential construction in a way homeowners can actually use.

What you can expect

Plain language. Practical questions. An emphasis on documentation, constructive communication, and understanding what happens next.

You do not have to become a construction manager to be an informed participant in your own build.
